Holiday!
So Warcraft has been nice to RP’ers, I think, in regards to the inclusion of holidays into their system. Sure it’s just another way to whore achievement points, but for us “special nerds”, it’s also an excuse to get some stories going.
So, IC or OOC responses, what is your favorite in-game holiday? And why? Is there a special significance to your character, or is this more based on MAN THAT’S COOL.

Teuthida lives for Children’s Week. She adores kids — well, Draenei kids — and IC, even if I don’t get around to it OOC, always goes back to Shattrath to spend time at the orphanages during Children’s Week. Coming in a close second is Winter Veil, the shiniest, sparkliest holiday, which she starts decorating for as soon as Brewfest starts up.
Ovistine and Nancie Lighthammer, being dwarves, love Brewfest above all else. It’s a time to get together with their fellow dwarvenkind, as well as anyone else who appreciates Dwarvish culture and a good hearty brew.
Me, I’ve had a fondness for several of them — a “Love Is In The Air” holiday several years ago led to an awkward flirtation between Valinar and Ovistine that is unlikely to ever go anywhere, but is terribly cute in-game.
I think my favorite in-game holidays change from year to year, depending on what my characters are up to.

Keltyr and Dorri are fans of Brewfest. So much so that they rented rooms in Orgrimmar for the entire length of it.
Last I heard, Keltyr was fond of Winter’s Veil so long as no one tried to make him look like an elf.

Children’s Week is the best. You get a week-long NPC to play with, the quests are easily done and have nice loose opportunities for RP in them, it’s a winner in all respects.
I also like Brewfest.

I think I have too many characters to really pick out a favorite. My feral druid Pitchblack was having a blast during Brewfest, tho- he finally got to go out drinking without getting funny looks from his siblings. He is now also the proud owner of a pony keg, which he shows off at every opportunity.
My blood elf pair Kaledain & Khaotic have always liked Winter Veil, while I think Taurros’ favorite is Children’s Week. For a big bull-man, he really has a soft spot for kids. Alanon likes the Lunar Festival, mostly because it’s centered in the Moonglade, which is his favorite place.
Shaurria was never involved in any holidays until this past Brewfest, which she did enjoy. I think she’ll like Hallow’s End and Winter Veil as well.

My friend and I like to challenge each other by suggesting several things to fic about. Recently, one challenge was to roll the dice on a holiday achievement and write a story about it using our main character. It was really fun finding ways to make the achievement seem realistic, while keeping characterization and plot lines in mind.
I got ‘Flirting With Disaster’. Going through all the steps in my short story was difficult, but the pay off was worth it! I think it’s one of the most rewarding achievement/quest based fics that I’ve done.
Overall, I like the possibilities of Midsummer for writing (and it’s also my favorite in game). I’m really looking forward to the new Pilgrim’s Bounty holiday! I’m already imagining lots of story opportunities with that. It’ll be nice to have a brand new holiday to play with too, since I’ve done all the others.
I’m surprised so many people chose Brewfest! I actually struggled trying to find ways to incorporate that one into my characters world.

Threnn’s is Children’s Week. She’s been volunteering at Stormwind’s orphanage for years, and every time it comes around, she and Bricu participate. I look forward to it OOCly as well. It’s become a tradition for us, and it’s spawned some amazing RP every time.
This year, Annalea declared Brewfest her favorite, because she could spend the week pickling herself and chalk it up to the holiday rather than her failure to deal with the breakup (she was wrong). Truthfully, though, Midsummer’s her favorite. She was born in the summer, and loves the fire festival that comes about a month before her birthday.
I’m not sure if Davien has one. If anything, it’s probably either Hallow’s End or Winter Veil — Hallow’s end because it gets people telling ghost stories and she’s a collector of tales; Winter Veil because her niece and nephew are still young enough to enjoy it and be excited by gifts left by Greatfather Winter in the night.
I vote that Laura posts a link to her “Flirting With Disaster” story!

Laura really should post her story!
Bricu’s favorite holiday is also Children’s Week. Personally, even though I am not keen on Halloween, I really enjoy what Blizz does for that holiday. I’m really looking forward to their Day of the Dead holiday.
My least favorite holiday is Winter’s Veil. I’m pretty sure Bricu secret adores it, and now that Bricu and Threnn are parents, he’s going to go all out for it.
