Swamped!
By falconesse | December 14, 2009
I’m suffering from an RL case of Being Swamped today, so I’m foisting some homework on you lot:
Tell us about a time when your character was swamped — with work, with troubles, with good things or bad — and how he or she dealt with it.
For example: Annalea acts as Tarquin’s secretary, dealing with the mail that comes to the Pig. Some of it’s mundane: bills, notices, people looking for jobs or looking to retain the services of the Riders. Sometimes that pile of correspondence can be nigh-on overwhelming. When the stacks are more than she can deal with, she might be tempted to take Tarquin’s advice (“Burn it, Annie. Take a match ta the lot”), but that’s going to leave a mess she’d have to clean up, in the end.
Instead, she either goes upstairs and gives dramatic readings of some of the worst letters to the Riders who might be present, or …answers the more outrageous/ridiculous ones. There are more than a few letters from would-be swindlers who’ve found themselves corresponding with Anna. (You know how some people respond to the 419 scam emails for giggles? Just like that.)
Your turn!

Bricu would either plot, Cook or Fight. If he has too many plots going to keep his head straight, he’d cook. That depends on his proximity to ingredients and a kitchen. When all else fails, violence solves most problems.

If Windstar starts feeling like she’s getting overwhelmed, she will just go off alone, find somewhere quiet (and preferably close to nature), and sit for a while, deliberately not thinking about anything. I guess it could sort of count as meditating, but on a subconcious level. (hopefully that makes sense?) If it gets really bad, she will go hide in Moonglade for a bit. Sholazar Basin is becoming a favorite spot now, too.

Agness would make herself a nice cup of tea, wrap herself up in a blanket, and knit for a while. Hopefully imp-free knitting.
Back in the day, Ovistine would have blown off some steam at a pub with a nice keg of stout and a hearty cheese plate. Right now, I think she might actually look for a task to do for someone, whether that’s up at the Argent Tournament or around Dalaran or out in Icecrown.
Nancie would haul herself right back to Alterac Valley and run screaming at the Horde. Which is not really unlike what she does when she’s not overwhelmed. >_> <_<
I have a hard time imagining Teuthida being overwhelmed by anything at all, but I think a bubble bath and some nice snuggle time would fix her right up. Maybe some gentle head-butting, although that can be dangerous to the head-butt-er. ^_^

The last time Rashona was seriously swamped, it was during the Pill-and-the-plague storyline; she alternated scrabbling around in search of a cure with messing with the alchemy labs in Shattrath, in hopes of finding something to at least slow it down. When she came to the realization that she might end up attempting to kill Corspilla rather than allow her to spread a new plague, she started to crack and was throwing herself at the biggest, nastiest creatures she could find to deal with the stress. (If the story had gone much further or progressed into physical violence between the two of them, I was planning to have her go completely feral and hide out in Un’Goro Crater for a while.)
Nothing in LK’s been that, um, fraught. But when Rashona’s feeling overwhelmed, she goes out to Sholazar and goes on a hunting spree. (After which she carefully butchers whatever she’s killed and takes the meat to the nearest inn, because leaving it would be all wasteful and un-druidy.)

When Shaurria feels overwhelmed, she will either go hide out somewhere (usually in the Park- there’s a surprising number of good hiding spots there- or lately she’s been favoring Zangarmarsh), or suddenly become a major Clingy-Kitty to her favorite friends.
I’ve noticed that Arvoss really doesn’t get that overwhelmed about things, though with everything that Shaur has been going through lately, he’s been pretty close. When things do start to be too much, he’ll usually go to Icecrown and kill Scourge til he feels better.
Pitch doesn’t get overwhelmed much either, he’s too much of an easy-going nature-boy. If he did, his reaction would probably be pretty much the same as Rashona’s, substituting Sholazar for either Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord (because Pitch is still little >.>).

When Dorri feels overwhelmed, she finds something to kill, preferably lots of somethings.
Or she finds Keltyr
I know you are all horribly shocked to hear this
