We Interrupt Wrathgate Wednesday…

By | March 17, 2010

Last night, Anna linked me a (now deleted) blog post wherein a guild was planning on encourage RP Griefing, “RP they found stupid.” On the surface, it appears that this “Bloggy Guild Event” was going to target ERP on Argent Dawn.

edit: It’s been brought to our attention that this was not a guild sanctioned even, so this post has been edited to reflect that information.

Now readers, Anna’s my friend and a guild mate. She is not one to stir trouble, say a harsh word or mock other people. She’s advocated “talk to someone first” before going public. This particular blog, and this particular event, made one particular Anna stand up for RPers everywhere. She did it assertively, with passion and with grace. Yet another reason why Anna Fucking Rules.

Once you start to treat RPers like dirt, you’re hurting all RPers. It’s a lesson I learned early on in the game. Mocking RPers and Treating Rpers like dirt isn’t RPing a bastard. It’s griefing RP couched in “funny!” language.

F-that.

But… the “Guildy” part of it wasn’t technically correct… unfortunately individuals mentioned the guild name in the same post which might have suggested that this was guild endorsed event.

Consider that this same guild is intending to do a RP event to show support for me. I was devastated by non-RPer’s invading AD:US the other night.. so devastated that I was about to forget 5 years of WoW and just walk away.

These aren’t bad people that we speak of, just new arrivals from a range of gaming backgrounds, young to old that find themselves rerolling on a RP server, not so much for the RP, but for the chance to connect to like minded individuals.

Before casting us all down, you should instead read the wonderful revelations that people have made about this strange new RP world and the joy it is bringing to their previously un-RP-hearts… refreshing the game, the world and the people.

In looking over the cached blog page, you’re right. This wasn’t a guild event, it was a blog event. I will be fixing that error immediately.

I am not casting anyone down. What I posted, and what I continue to say, is that the behavior encouraged by said blog is griefing.

Thanks for the edit. Totally agree with you… this needed, and continues to need to be said.
