Sunday Cata: How long?
By Bricu | August 15, 2010
This week, the only real amount of WoW time I was able to get was RP night on tuesday. However, last week Ringo wanted some assistance in determining the time span between Wrath and Cata.
As we can see from the above Screenshot, it is clear that at least three to five years have passed since Vanilla. This is using only in game lore sources. Outside of WoW, there may be a better source as to how much time has passed.
I’ll keep looking! If you have any other questions, comments or vague-misgivings, drop us a line!

I’m fairly sure it’s five. I forget where I read it, but I know something stated it was five years since vanilla, because I remember thinking “oh, so they’re finally catching it up to REAL LIFE and all my year-by-year RP doesn’t have to poof. Huzzah.”

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a blue post that there were 10 years between the end of Lich King and the beginning of Cataclysm. Unfortunately I can’t find it right now (I’m not on my desktop, where I’d have it bookmarked). It was in one of the Lore Q&A sessions that were done for Cataclysm though.

The forums have it as anywhere between 1 year and 10 years. Anduin Wrynn doesn’t look older than 15, and I have a hard time believing that they’d jump 10 years in the future.
Then again, they also had the RealID idea. If they discussed the timeline while doing whatever substances they had on hand when they came up with that turdball of an idea, it’s anyone’s guess.

I REMEMBER NOW.
There’s a quest in Westfall that shows you a flash back to [Generic Alliance Group] fighting Edwin Van Cleef. It declares, in big bold /rw text, that this was 5 years ago.
I think I have screenshots. If not, I think I can send another character to do it.

Send me the screenies, I’ll post it Sunday AND I’ll bring one of my beta toons to Westfall to see if I can find that as well.

That kid totally has a five o’clock shadow. I mean, it’s no surprise, with his dad being (as Linedan calls him) Wrynn the Chin, but still.
