Wednesday Wish List

By | August 18, 2010

What are the features that you wish WoW supported? These could be technical features–OpenGL enhancements, cross-faction languages–or story features–A Wrathgate-like event for Cataclysm.

Personally, I want more customizable options; specifically, more hair styles. Hell, I also want trenchcoats and the option to by Gilnean fashions (top hats!). I also think adding a hint of grey to a character’s hair color would also be a welcome change.

What else do YOU want for Cata?

I’m with you on the “buying Gilnean fashion” and more hairstyles. I have a death knight that is in desperate need of a waistcoat and cravat to be properly attired…and while the vests currently available in-game are nice, they don’t quite achieve the look I want for him when he’s out of his armor. I would love to be able to have a haircut on him that is distinctly less inspired by anime and manga as well. I’d also sort of like quests to learn different languages, maybe a rep grind to learn to speak the tongue of the dragons or something like.

I’m all for customizable features. It’s just downright annoying to find your “evil twin” so to speak, everywhere you go. I’d like it if we had some new eye colors (though I realize some races don’t have that option, which sucks), possibly some more tattoos, and not only on the face, but possibly arms/legs/torso for the races who could have them. Maybe some way to possibly dye clothing or armor via some kind of quest for a little change.

While this would be a little overboard, but I’ve always hoped to see an MMO with body changes. Not everyone wants to look like some beefcake or some slimmed down lady that looks like she could be broken in half. Why not have different body types so there’s a little change? And maybe some height too.

A few more side outfits (for fishing and the like) would be nice as well.

Oh god. If I could play a portly human in Gilnean fashion, I totally would.

Player housing. The more similar to LotRO’s housing, the better, I think. That was one of my favorite things about that game. Just have a small instance portal in each city that leads to a housing area or something.

More customization on characters would be awesome. My lil skinny undead priest is getting faction changed, and the thought of him turning into a bulky, beefy human is a bit disappointing. (Though not disappointing enough to not do the switch.) Having height options would be awesome too.

1) Languages, languages, languages. I want to learn other faction languages and cross-faction languages (though I could do without ‘em if I HAD to, but it’s totally IC for Rashona to know Darnassian!) and other-species languages (furbolg, behbeh) and I would totally put up with long grinds to do them.

2) More character customization, especially for tauren females. We only have five hairstyles, and one of them is absolutely abominable. Plus, my enhancement shammy NEEDS a moohawk.

Customization for armor, along with character appearance. My warrior doesn’t want to paint “Stab me here” on her belly anymore because she has to wear a chainmail bikini. And my second druid thinks he looks anything but hawt in a loincloth. The obligatory player housing add to the list… /plead. Mommacow’s languages is on my list too, because there’s no reason for people not to be able to learn other languages in game. Yes, even alliance/horde. Forsaken should remember Common, or some of them at least, and more than a few Draenei would remember some Orcish from Draenor. Plus some of the races have known each other long enough for some enterprising soul to set up a language school and charge others for it.

The other thing I’d like to see is voice customization. There might not be a lot of choices because of mechanics, but I remember in some single players how you could pick a voice for your character. It’d be nice to have, so if you emote something with sound, it doesn’t sound like a crazed maniac or a giggle if that doesn’t fit your character.
