The Cataclysm Begins
By Bricu | October 13, 2010
Yesterday, Azeroth literally started to shake. The Cataclysm events have begun, starting with some very crunch changes. How are you handling the changes brought by 4.01? Has your main been affected by mechanics changes? Are you RPing through the Earth Quakes? How are you rolling–or rocking–the the changes to the game?

I’m loving the hunter changes, personally. In point of fact, the only class I feel any trepidation about is my paladin, but I’m betting I’ll catch up quickly.
So far as the random earthquakes go, my hunter Tahlian has determined it’s time to go out and make another round of his seismic sensors, since something is obviously happening and all the little tremors he’s been picking up for the last six-eight months or so can now be used as a baseline for “normal.” He figures everything will settle out once the plates quit moving, so this should be nothing more than an interesting scientific/technological experiment.

Absolutely loving the new game mechanics, though I’m a little sad that they eliminated weapon skills before I could get Corise the “Did Someone Order a Knuckle Sandwich?” achievement. Ah well. I’ll just have to rely on her IC reputation for throwing punches. Still a little overwhelmed by the paladin changes, but I’m starting to get a feel for the new pally healing, and it’s so much more fun than the old spam-fests.
RP-wise, the Boomstick Gang has been quite alarmed by the earthquakes, and they’ve tentatively begun to investigate the causes. Corise, for her part, has been secretly dealing with other potentially world-shattering events since Midsummer, and she’s not ruled out the possibility that the quakes may be related to that (OOCly, probably not, but maybe…), so this is one more thing to worry about as her life continues to spiral out of control. The past few months have been really rough on her, and things will almost assuredly get a whole lot worse before they get better. At this rate, she’s going to be in as bad of shape as Azeroth when the Cataclysm hits.
